Personally, I think with the overall population of fellow citizens being more educated and with higher inflow of foreigners who eventually become fellow citizens, the way how control could be easily settled in one party has gradually diluted.
Though it is almost expected that PAP still wins most of the votes, based on last yr's voting results, it is not hard for anyone to see and to know that the voting for the opposition has increased. It appears that our fellow countrymen are starting to send signals to the ruling party that things need to be changed in how this fine country has been run, in order for people to consider seriously to continue voting for them.
But surely, I do from the very bottom of my heart, has agreed that our SM has done a very remarkable achievement in transforming Singapore what it is today.
