Singaporeans are a funny lot of people.. dun give them they complain.. give them they also complain.. The Govt generally is good.. u see progress... but sometimes is it at the expense of the people... One must ask oneself.. why is it that only the Singapore Govt can always get away with more and more price increases... GST, ERP and even PUB have increased over the years... all these increases and Singaporean still complain but they always bite the bullet??

Why is that soo?? They scared... So if Singaporeans remain scared there will be the very very rich snoobish elite that will rule everything from the Govt, to the schools to the top companies... and because they dun complain they get even more bullied or pushed to a corner..

Perhaps STAND UP FOR SINGAPORE no longer holds true... its something that the Govt wants to brainwash the people... perhaps its time to stand up for ourself and let our votes do the talking and not just vote the PAP and then complain again and when comes to voting time vote PAP again.. come on u are smarter than that

I think the PAP Govt have done fairly well to take Singapore to where we are today... They should be given a pat on their backs for the hard work.. If I was sitting as one of the minister.. I will probably mess up lah

Way to go! Mr JB Jayaratnam is forming a new political party in Singapore.... "A" for effort and guts... but "F" for wisdom...

The opposition party of Singapore lacks serious wisdom if it is to be the alternative voice of the people. Firstly it is soo fragmented that the PAP finds it no kick... like as though a child trying to take on an adult in a wrestling match... There is no cohesion.. although Mr Chiam See Tong tried to form oneness with the SDA... a lot is said about him not trusting his people and being a control freak... and not forgetting the ever entertaining clown Chee Soon Juan

So I would say... Singapore opposition parties still got a long way to go probably in 3 elections time... oh perhaps in 10-12 years time we will see something more tangible that they will be a force that the PAP would fear.. until that day comes... we just let the PAP soak in more power and glory!

Personally, I think with the overall population of fellow citizens being more educated and with higher inflow of foreigners who eventually become fellow citizens, the way how control could be easily settled in one party has gradually diluted.

Though it is almost expected that PAP still wins most of the votes, based on last yr's voting results, it is not hard for anyone to see and to know that the voting for the opposition has increased. It appears that our fellow countrymen are starting to send signals to the ruling party that things need to be changed in how this fine country has been run, in order for people to consider seriously to continue voting for them.

But surely, I do from the very bottom of my heart, has agreed that our SM has done a very remarkable achievement in transforming Singapore what it is today.

It would be good to see an opposition win a GRC... this will really wake up a complacent ruling party that thinks that they can just about do anything to do just about anything they want...

U see they increase bus fares first and then they debate in the Public Transport Council.. what is the use of the Public Transport Council then? Its crazy that Singaporeans always fall for the candy of perhaps $1000 plus dollars and then after that they suck u 10 times that amount..

Opposition to win a seat will be very difficult.
Why?
If govt feel that the grc is under threat from the oppposition, they will slice it off a certain area making less opposition voters to vote for them.
