Go SINGAPORE!!! We shall host the YOG so successfully that very soon, every single sporting activity would want Singapore as the host.

Not so sure about the benefits...seems like it lines the pockets of the rich first....and by the time it filters down it only left pittance for the rest of the people.

My answer for the short term is YES and NO. For the long term, it is YES.

Short-term:
YES: Tourist numbers will increase and thus, hotels, restaurants, shopping centers, et cetera, will have more business..

NO: YOG is a new event. Unless Singapore and the organisers promote and advertise it to the international zone successfully, nobody would know that it's happening..

Long-term:
YES: If Singapore manages to host the games with great success, we will soon be hosting all sorts of events which will keep the economy up and running.. The facilities built for the YOG will be opened up to public for use in recreational activities. Singapore's status in the international world as a good host will be increased many folds should we host successfully with no logistic problems or any "cock-ups".. there are many more, but I can't write them all here...

YOG will benefit Singapore ... the fact of the matter is that the international scene is already abuzz as to how Singapore managed to be the David and defeat the Golliath Russia...

So people knows abt this YOG... and they will come to watch... more pple come to watch better for our economy...

Now is only whether our people are cultured enough to play host... or will they all leave with a bad after taste in their mouth?
